Picked this up yesterday and it’d be a crime not to share. Forget the flat iron. This product gives you that surfer girl California beach look without damaging your hair. It’s super easy to use and add fullness and texture to your hair. The best part, it leaves your hair like a day at the beach!

I took this pic after I got home very late last night, so excuse the red eyes and so on.

I went to a wedding party last night and a little blush, some sparkly lip gloss and a cat eye liquid liner was the plan. I figured, don’t upstage the bride to be, and look natural. It worked!

This is what I did:
Evened out my skin with foundation
Made sure my eyebrows were perfect
Liquid eyeliner for the cat eye
A bit of highlighter on the inside corners of the eyes and just underneath the brows
Blush- I used a darker pink very sparingly along the cheekbones and on the apples of the cheeks
Pink sparkly lipgloss :)

My best advice when you have a little greasy hair, tie it up. I watched it this morning when I was doing a French braid, which I did start in the neck, and ended in front of the forehead. And then I wove the rest of the hair in a normal merge all the hair was gathered in a long braid. Winding it around duced in the autumn, and put it on with hairpins and hairspray. If you can merge, it’s a pretty easy

Beauty Tip: Summer Nights

A favorite look for summer nights: Use pearlized pink-sand shades on eyes and cheeks and finish with a pale matte mouth. Gorgeous.

Beauty Tip: Bold Lipstick

One of the easiest ways to add drama to your look is to add a bold lipstick. For fullness, highlight the area above your cupid’s bow with a brush of gold or white eye shadow.

These are the new La Laque Couture Tie & Dye Top Coats. There are 3 layers to the polish (the clear, the tint, and and the iridescent payoff (very bottom). The swatches I have seen online (particularly Beautezine’s) are soo cute!! Right now, 3/4 of these are sold out online. I’m gonna have to check out some dept stores. If I get my hands on any of em, I’ll swatch and update.

Summer is almost upon us and so comes the yearly rush for bathing suits, self-tanner, the beach, and the gym…once you realize that you need to go to the gym to go to the beach to look good in the bathing suit that requires you slather on self-tanner.

One more thing you need to add to your shopping list? Gold. Eyeshadow, that is.
My love for gold eyeshadow is undying, and a perfect, smokey gold eye in the summer is the absolute best indulgence I know of besides fried food, the spa, designer shoes, champagne from my birth year, chocolate, and real gold.

The other great thing about gold? I requires almost no fuss, since it is almost perfect by itself. Swipe that shadow from your inner corner to the edge of your lid and you become a glittering goddess of the summer swelter (did you know that I liked alliterations?). I have two ABSOLUTE FAVORITE GOLD EYESHADOWS. I believe that they are the best that woman has to offer, and believe me, I’ve searched through my fair share. My numero uno is:

Bare Minerals Eye-color in True Gold: Although I do have a bit of a peeve with the messy loose shadows from Bare Minerals, the color of this shadow is the most beautiful gold I have ever seen, and so I overlook that pesky little detail. It has almost a glitter element to it, and is super metallic.

Urban Decay Half-Baked: It’s in both of the Naked Palettes, and I guess I will concede that it is for good reason. This is a little darker than the Bare Minerals shade, but the texture is so amazingly creamy, the pigmentation is amazing, and overall, it is an easy way to look like a BAMF goddess. The end.

UD on the left, BM on the right. The pictures really do this no justice, and you should just go to your local Sephora or Ulta to get the real experience.

I tried to rack the recesses of my brain to recommend a drug-store alternative to these, but really, I don’t think anything is better than these two. I use these colors year-round, and they are so worth the investment in my opinion.

Final words of advice: get your gold on.

I love, love, love the look of hexagonal glitter on the nails, and the dramatic “sequin nails” look.

But I especially like the honey-combed look where instead of dunking your entire finger in glitter, you carefully dot each piece of glitter on with a pointed object so it looks like fish scales.

Key to the look is a translucent larger sized glitter. If you choose an opaque glitter the ombre colors beneath won’t show through. If they are too small, you can’t place them on properly. You can find hex glitters from most art stores, but they don’t always stock larger sizes, so you can also search for sets like these on Lightinthebox.com ($6.99 with free international shipping!) or ebay.

WARNING: this nail look takes a LONG time to do…

Step 1: I applied 2 coats of a creamy blue-green on my nails after applying basecoat.
—

Step 2: Using the porous side of a ripped up cosmetic sponge, I stippled a blue acrylic paint (Folk Art True Blue) onto the lower half of my nails. It doesn’t need to be a perfect ombre. You just need to not see any clear line between the green and blue.
Then let dry and seal with a thin layer of top coat.
—

Step 4: I applied a coat of nail foil adhesive (or repositionable glue from the art store) to the surface and let it dry. Then I used the sharp end of a dotting tool - use a tooth pick if you don’t have one! - to pick up individual pieces of glitter and place them in neat rows down the entire nail. You can do just one accent nail or all your nails, like I did.
Note: You can use clear nail polish instead of repositionable glue, but it will keep drying out before you’re done, and dotting on the polish spot by spot takes WAY too much time.
—

Step 5: Seal with 1-2 coats of topcoat, just until the surface no longer feels rough and won’t catch on anything.
